Hot dog! Springdale native Radhika Desai won her first challenge Wednesday on “Top Chef: New York,” assuring her advancement to next week’s episode.
The 1998 Princeton High School graduate and daughter of Indian parents prepared the best hot dog among the 15 contestants and won immunity on cable’s top-rated food show (10 p.m. Wednesdays, Bravo).
Desai, 28, an executive chef in Chicago, prepared an “Indian-inspired” kabob-style sausage with lamb, pork and ground chuck dressed with caramelized onions, cucumbers and tomato jam.
Judges called it “really satisfying.”
One chef was sent home, leaving 14 on the TV reality show.
Desai was one of two suburban Cincinnati contestants on “Top Chef.” West Chester Township native Lauren Starling Hope, 24, a chef at Jag’s Steak and Seafood in Union Centre, was eliminated in the season premiere last week.
